One Island Once Voice Beach Clean-Up

Anyone currently in Bali will have noticed that we are in the middle of the rainy season. Not only does this mean the occasional shower will be pouring from the sky, it also means that a huge chunk of Balis waste washes back up on the shore resulting in the beaches getting lined with litter.

At Odysseys we do our best to take care of our surf spots by cleaning up the trash every single day, but it would be even better if we could prevent the trash from washing up at all! It is estimated that each day 5,000 tons of trash
are dumped on the island. The rain drags the trash into the water streams and from there on it is carried into the sea. Then, because during the rain season the wind is blowing from the west, all of this trash is blown back right back onto the shore! We believe it is incredibly important to minimize waste, and the only way to achieve this goal is by creating awareness of the issue.

On the 19th of February 2017 the biggest beach clean up in Balinese history will be organized, and we are encouraging all of our friends to join! The aim is to clean all of Balis coastline, in order to create awareness for the litter problem in Bali. All information can be found on http://www.oneislandonevoice.org. The event is organized at beaches all along the coasts of Bali, you can check on the map what location works best for you. Different beaches are being cleaned at different times, but all on February 19th. Once you have decided at what time and where you would like to join, all you need to do is sign up and show up on the 19th! Remember to bring sunscreen, water, gloves and a trashbag. Lets join the movement and raise our voices for a clean Bali!
