Celebrating it’s 9th year, South East Asia’s one and only surf film festival takes place from 13-15 September at sunset.

Expect mind-blowing visuals with this year’s fabulous line up of films, fuelled by epic adventures, whimsical journeys and low budget escapades by those impassioned by the motion of the ocean. Films lead us from the seething surf scene of Brazil in the 80’s to modern day seaside towns in Palestine where surfing is changing lives. See world champions, local heroes, monster waves and gentle rollers from Gaza, South Africa, Iceland, Spain and Portugal.

The OmbakBali crew has searched far and wide to find the most awesome, awe-inspiring films of the genre, films that go beyond the waves and show how surfing can mobilize, inspire and fuel social change. Highlights include Proximity the latest from Taylor Steele, as well as Endless Winter II and Gaza Surf Club.

OmbakBali Surf Film Festival offers a high quality line-up of carefully selected surf documentary features, action films, shorties, animations and art. The festival embraces innovative, adventurous and independent filmmaking and its focus is on recent work. Both talented newcomers and more established directors are being celebrated during the three-day event. All screenings are free of charge and take place open-air, under the stars next to the sandy shores of Canggu beach in Bali, Indonesia.

OmbakBali Festival is a yearly event, and since its debut in Kuta in 2008, it has become a solid landmark to celebrate surfing and surf lifestyle in its most creative forms. All films at the festival are World, International or Asian premieres.[2]
